My goal today is to bust one of the biggest female muscle building myths!

If I got $100 for every time one of my female clients asked me:

“If I lift weights won’t I get too big?”

Or

“If I lift weights won’t I look like a bodybuilder?!”

Then by now, I would be a retired millionaire!

I am here to tell you NO! NO! and NO!

It is physiologically impossible for a woman to get big muscles.

Unless you as a woman are using steroids then the chances of you getting big muscles are ZERO.

According to this article by Healthline, men have more than 10 times more testosterone than women do on average!

Males have on average 270-1070ng/Dl compared to Females 15-70ng/dL.

And at the upper scale means this can mean normal males have even 15x more testosterone than females do.

This is why it is impossible for the average lady to become big and bulky because testosterone is the biggest reason for muscle mass.

Sit back and imagine how much steroids, testosterone, and other hormones professional female bodybuilders need to use to get to the muscular physiques they have.

I am here to tell you once again that it is impossible for you to get big or bulky lifting weights without using tons of steroids, from a scientific perspective it is impossible.

I cannot stress this point enough, so get this myth out of your head and get ready to lift!

Here are the reasons why women should lift weights

#1 Lifting Weights Burns More Calories than Regular Cardio

If you are tired of regular boring cardio, then this tip will be a lifesaver for you!

Weight training, and I am not talking about lifting 1lb weights 50 times, I am talking about structured female weightlifting exercise.

Lifting weights burns far more calories than regular cardio while you are lifting, as well as producing the “afterburn” effect long after you have finished exercising.

Simply put the afterburn effect is due to an oxygen deficit that your body develops while lifting heavy weights and pushing it in the gym.

This, in other words, means you need to be huffing and puffing like crazy by the time you are done.

This is why compound movements such as:

They are all great moves because they use many different muscle groups. Squats alone use 85% of your body.

This, in turn, puts more stress on your body which burns more calories not only during the workout but after.

Not everyone likes a science lesson so I will keep it simple.

After a heavy weight lifting session or an intense HIIT workout, your body will use your aerobic pathway to replace all the ATP it has used.

This in layman’s terms means you will still burn calories hours after you have left the gym.

This is why it is SO much better than cardio to lose weight and tone up.

As not only are you burning more calories, you are also building muscle at the same time!

#2 Lifting Weights Make You Look Amazing!

Every woman has a different goal of how she would want to look.

However, if you are here reading this article I am sure you do not want to look skinny but instead, toned, lean, built and sexy.

Most of the female clients I have trained are looking for that bikini body with a “Yoga Butt”.

Now let me tell you, 1 hour a day on the treadmill won’t do this for you!

Lifting weights for muscle building won’t have you looking big and bulky but it will make you look good in all the right places.

Heavy squats, deadlifts, and many of the exercises I mentioned above will leave you looking toned, lean, sexy, and healthy.

Building muscle not only serves to make you look amazing but due to this, you get a huge boost in confidence knowing how good you look all over!

#3 Lifting Weights Gives you More Functional Strength

As ladies, sometimes it can be frustrating not being able to lift things or open a bottle of soda and so on.

Muscle building makes you build more functional strength leaving you more able to do things you previously couldn’t.

This leaves you more confident in your own abilities too.

Lifting weights will make you look sexy and toned not muscular and masculine! So start lifting today!
